It’s Austin Marathon Day! Keep that in mind as you are headed around town this morning. Good luck to all the runners.
I thought about blogging on a place to go eat after finishing the big race, but unless you have reservations you probably don’t have a great chance of getting a table somewhere. You might as well join the after party at that is being hosted by Livestrong. There will be plenty of post-race runners re-living the event.
I have to ask myself, who are these runners that can go 26.2 miles and be ready to party afterward? That’s crazy. If runners show their number they get a complimentary appetizer!
In unrelated news, I saw “Just Go With It” last night starring Austinite Brooklyn Decker. It was very funny and super cute! I would definitely recommend it. Way to make us look good Brooklyn!

Longtime Austinites know that one of the coolest weekends of the year is coming up – the Zilker Park Kite Festival!!! But to have fun, you need to own a kite.
You can buy one, or just find one in your garage, but the most creative way is to make one! At this workshop, they’ll have everything you need to build an awesome kite and plenty of people to help. The kites you get to make are called sled kites. They’re made out of a plastic sheet, bamboo sticks and crepe paper. These kites can be entered into the kite contest on March 6th (remember that manufactured kites cannot compete in the contest!)
Mark your calendars, because the festival is coming up in two weeks on Sunday, March 6th. Yes, of course there will be another photo contest this year, so be ready! Kite pictures rule!!
Follow the Zilker Park Kite Festival on facebook for updates, kite tips and more leading up to big weekend: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zilker-Park-Kite-Festival/159522434094842.

What is it about yelling B-I-N-G-O that is so unbelievably gratifying? It never gets old. We all love winning! Plus, I’m young. I live my life on a budget, so I’m always looking for cheap drinks or cheap fun.
On Friday nights they give you 6 beers (yes, real canned beers) for 6 quarters! You have to pay in quarters, but I repeat, it’s a six-pack for $1.50! That alone makes it an awesome place to pre-party before heading downtown. Cheap beer and the opportunity to win TONS of money is a terrific combination.
You won’t have the full experience until you meet Kimble, the Bingo Gringo! You’ll know what I mean when you meet him. He’s fantastic. I saw him dancing on a table. I also hear that people get so into the game that they actually have “bing-gasms.” I can only imagine.
If you want to try it out, mention that you heard about it from 365 Things Austin and you’ll get a $2 discount!

I can’t get enough of this spring weather! It makes for great happy hours, and I’ve been taking full advantage.
Paco’s is one of those Austin finds that you really know about from word-of-mouth, or you’re a college student. I go here when I’m hungover because they serve breakfast tacos all day (when you wake up at two in the afternoon that’s always a plus). They’re delicious and easy on the wallet! Their hot, homemade tortillas are truly addicting. When I was little I used to go to this Mexican restaurant by my house in Houston called “Tortillas,” and I would eat so many tortillas I would actually make myself sick. They were too good! These are the closest thing to those old tortillas that I’ve had in Austin, and a good tortilla makes for a good taco. They recently started to serve sliders, but I can’t get away from the tacos.
I tend to pick them up and take them home, but their outdoor seating area is perfect for weather like this! They also have huge TVs, so it’s not a bad place to catch the game.
I have been so excited for their deal today, don’t miss it! https://365austindeals.com/austin/offer/!

If I was going to pick a burger place that was a great reflection of Austin, this would be it.
It’s all-natural, organic, and it has veggie, vegan and gluten-free options — that pretty much covers all the bases. Their food is delicious, and gluten-free buns are not the easiest thing to find at burger joints around town, so this place is a treasure to the wheat-free crowd.
This is not one of those places that claims to be all natural, they really are. Literally everything they serve is 100% natural. This includes everything from their killer breakfast tacos to their organic ice cream.
When given a choice I almost always go for the sweet potato fries, and theirs are amazingly good. They’re also very eco-friendly, which is always a plus. My sister is getting her master’s degree in sustainability, so I always get excited when places are environmentally conscious.
They’re not the cheapest burger in town, but you get what you pay for (in a good way).
