58.11 North American Handmade Bike Show

February 27, 2011

Like I’ve said before, we’re a city of cyclists. We are the home of Lance Armstrong, after all. That makes Austin a natural spot to host the one of the world’s premier showcases for handmade bikes. This is the seventh edition of the show. It celebrates every aspect of handmade bikes — the craftsmanship, the art, the frame, everything.

True cyclists probably will appreciate this far more than I can. My last bike was a maroon Huffy in grade school. I keep swearing that I’m going to try to get into biking and maybe even try a competing in a triathlon. So far not having a bike has really slowed me down.

Anyway, springtime always makes me feel like getting active, so this event might give us all a little inspiration.

When: Today

Time: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Admission: $22 adults, $8 children. Kids five and under get in free

Austin Convention Center
500 East Cesar Chavez Street
Austin, Texas 78701
