304. Halloween on 6th Street

October 31, 2010

Halloween on 6th Street is not for the faint of heart, as some of you may have found out last night. It’s a madhouse.

Each year, there’s around 100,000 people roaming the bars – all in costume.

To be completely honest, it’s not for everyone. I would compare it to the  insanity and pure ridiculousness  of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, just on a smaller scale. The roads are blocked off and there are people absolutely everywhere.

There are costumes of all shapes and sizes. The thought and creativity that is put into some of the costumes you will see down there is unmatched. People watching in the city does not get much better than Halloween.

Here is a great documentary that a fellow Austinite made on the madness and craziness of Halloween on 6th Street: http://www.hulu.com/watch/177438/halloween-on-6th-street.

Like I said yesterday: NUMBER ONE RULE BE SAFE: Sober Ride is offering FREE cab rides home tonight from 11:00pm-3:00am – CALL 512-657-2999.

Location: 6th Street Austin, Texas

Lasty, I love Halloween Jokes , so here are my favorites of the year:

Q. Why can’t the ghost have babies?
A. Because he has a Hallo-weenie.

Q. How did the ghost say goodbye to the vampire?
A. See you later, sucker!

Q. What’s it like to be kissed by a vampire?
A. It’s a pain in the neck.

Happy Halloween Austin, Texas – let the good times roll.
