274. 78th Annual Mediterranean Festival

October 1, 2010

Most importantly, happy anniversary mom and dad! I love you!

Now let’s move on to today’s event (which is also happening tomorrow). For those of you that aren’t heading to Dallas and are looking to get the month started off right, here’s a festival full of food, wine, music, dancing and plenty more.

Foodies and fun seekers — this has your name all over it!

The Mediterranean Festival has been named one of Central Texas’ top food festivals by the Austin Chronicle, and it also happens to be one of the city’s longest running festivals.

The biggest draw of the event is undoubtedly the good food, as vendors will be serving cuisine from Lebanon, Palestine, Greece, Eritrea and Romania. My recommendation is to try a gyro, but those looking for something a little more out there can investigate all kinds of delicious Mediterranean fare. The selection is overwhelming, and it’s all supposed to be great.

Kids are welcome and can get lost in the kids’ oasis, where they’ll have tons of games and children’s activities.

In addition to great food, the event features a marketplace, dance demonstrations and good old-fashioned Mediterranean dancing late into the night.

Here’s to a night of culture!

When: Tonight & Tomorrow

Time: 6:00 p.m.—midnight

Admission: $5.00

408 East 11th Street
Austin, Texas 78701

I would guess that parking shouldn’t be too bad since half the city is going to be in Dallas, but I’m not making any promises.

For more information on parking visit,

And it would be un-Austin of me not to say: OU who??? Go Longhorns!
