269. Hippie Church

September 26, 2010

This is a list item I can’t take credit for, as it was suggested to me by some followers. When they say “Keep Austin Weird” this is the exact sort of event that comes to mind. This Sunday version of a Gospel Brunch embodies the free loving, good natured spirit of the city perfectly.

The music is always light hearted, fun and gets you moving. Be ready to dance, eat tacos and drink beer. Everyone is welcome at the Hippie church — you’ll find anyone from hippies, college students and families enjoying the Sunday morning fun.

You leave smiling and appreciating Austin just a little more. Just make sure you order the tacos Al Pastor because it is church, after all. Having awesome breakfast tacos might help keep this weekly celebration alive, but I like to think it’s the people and atmosphere that keeps everybody coming back.

This is Austin in a nutshell, and I think you’ll love it.

Sundays: 12:00-2:00pm

Taco Xpress
2529 South Lamar Blvd.
Austin, Texas 78704
