248. Ski Shores Cafe

September 5, 2010

For most people, Labor Day is a chance to get one last hurrah on the lake, so you better get one more ski shores meal in before boat season winds down. Eating on the lake is always fun, and there’s something so calming about being on the water.

In April of this year they underwent a total makeover, and I think it took them from good to great.

The ambiance is exactly what you would imagine — perfect. They have the same fantastic deck they’ve always had, as well as a new playground for the youngsters, a full wait staff, full bar and many more upgrades – all positive! It’s a great spot, and it might be the only spot, to experience live music on the lake. Today they will have live music from 3:30-7:00.

A few food mentions while I’m at it because, after all, it is a restaurant. The fried okra — words do not even begin to do it justice. The burgers are also great, however there seems to be some controversy over whether they were better before or after the new management, but I think the current burgers are pretty dang good.

If you can’t get out there by boat, you can take City Park Road. I love that drive, but still, nothing beats pulling up by boat and having a nice meal and a few beers with your friends.
