221. Go to a FREE taping of “Austin City Limits”

August 9, 2010

This definitely isn’t the easiest list item to accomplish, but it’s probably worth the effort for “Austin City Limits” and music lovers alike. Word is they’re some of the toughest tickets in town to obtain- but I always love a good challenge.

The PBS show has been running since 1976 and featuring artists such as Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Coldplay, The Killers, Gnarls Barkley, Sarah McLachlan and Brad Paisley. Needless to say, many music legends have graced the stage.

To find out about ticket giveaways, call: 512-475-9077 or visit the ACL Blog, at: Notice of giveaways and upcoming tapings are normally posted a few days in advance. The BLOG is the first place they’ll announce them. Winners are picked at random and receive two tickets to the taping.

Even if you’re lucky enough to get tickets, you should get there well in advance. They give away more tickets than seats available to account for “no-shows.”

Yes, great lengths of hoop-jumping are involved, but I think it’s a one-of-a-kind experience true music lovers will appreciate. However, if this is just too much for you, waiting until October for the ALC festival might be more your style.

Those of you who have deep pockets, I did read somewhere donating $5,000 to Austin City Limits will result in 20 “free” tickets that guarantee admission. You should probably verify that information before donating the five grand, though.

Best of luck, everyone! Hope some of you get to see a great show!
