169. Red’s Porch

June 18, 2010

After lots and lots of hype I finally tried out Red’s Porch a few Friday’s ago and it definitely lived up to all the great things that I had been hearing.

I figured today was a great day to blog on them because you can A) head out there for some World Cup action or B) just head out there for a fun Friday night – either way it would be a great addition to your Friday.  They are having a USA vs. Slovenia viewing party as I type right now, the next viewing party will be Wednesday at 9:00am for USA vs. Algeria.

This  place is huge with a magnificent view of the Austin Hill County; you could go there for the view alone.  The food was great; the menu has a variety of American style food.  I could go on about the food but what can really say about a good burger and fries. They have a pretty extensive drink menu and I hear the margaritas will really do the trick.

Everything  I expected and more from the place after all the hype. Heads up, it definitely has that trendy SOCO vibe. Comfortable, fun (check out the old time game wall) , laid back atmosphere, I was there on a pretty packed Friday night and we had great service.

You know how parking is always a dozy Friday nights at “it” spots around town, well lucky for us they offer complimentary valet during peak hours.

I’d say one of the top 5 places to watch the Sunset in Austin. It is a great date spot, place to take out of town guests, parents, or just a night out with friends. It definitely got my stamp of approval and I will be back, they had me at the view but the food, drinks and service exceeded expectations.
