166. Marmalade Skies

June 15, 2010

Are you looking for a way to beat this heat and need something inside to cool off? This is a fantastic Austin Art Studio great for both adults and kids. You can walk-in and create, sign up for summer camps, get involved in art classes or even  host a party here. I am in an upcoming wedding and think Marmalade Skies is a great place for a bridal lunch where we can all make something sentimental for the bride.

If you are feeling creative on a whim, this is the perfect place to just walk-in and have at it. I happen to be partial to getting creative with the mosaic’s or the decoupage. Decoupage (I only know what this is called from their website)  is awesome; it is where you decorate something with cutouts of colored paper, linoleum, plastic, or other flat material and then varnish is applied. Things like this make great presents, they always get the “thinking outside the box points.”

Parents, do you need a break or need to get your kids out of the house for a few hours? Check out their summer camp programs!

Finally, they offer a great varity of classes. So all of you out there that had  a New Year’s Resolution along the lines of “try something new” or “take a class” there is still time. Check out the Clay Jewelry Class, I long to be that talented! They offer a painting class, mosaic, basically an art studio that caters to a little bit of everything. As I mentioned, I am huge fan of mosaic; they have a great project you can do, Mosaic Suncatcher. These can be done with a variety of shapes & materials and look fantastic hanging from trees or awnings – the perfect addition to your backyard for summer.

It is locally owned and operated by people who are passionate about art and what they do, thus that inspires you to put your best creative foot forward.

Definitely a top spot on my list for dodging the dog days of summer!

Check out the ½ off deal today for a future visit to Marmalade Skies.
