154. Shiner’s Saloon

June 3, 2010

After blogging on Schloz Garten yesterday it really got me in the Austin Saloon mood, even though I am not much of a beer drinker I can still enjoy the atmosphere.  Why did I choose Shiner’s Today? Hands down, they have the best location. Shiner’s Saloon sits on the second floor, yes second floor, right smack dab downtown at 5th and Congress.  Not only do they one of the best locations in the city, they have 16 beers on tap and some great food. I have recently started to eat sliders and these make the grade. It has a feel that you might expect with “Saloon” in the name but they have plenty of TV’s to catch your favorite sporting event.

It goes without saying that of course they have every type of Shiner beer, no worries though they also have others as well as a great wine selection.  On top of a great selection of drinks and food most of the owners are from Shiner, Texas so they have trained their staff well and to serve up that homegrown, small town feel that makes bars like this so special. It’s a great crowd because it never seems too packed as I happen to hate bars that are always packed. Props to them for most of the time being able to provide a bar stool or chair.

They have live music 7 nights a week, no wonder they call us the Live Music Capital of the World. In short, a great atmosphere to grab a drink or some food after a long day or just to relax.

Today for blog followers they have a great special going on, check out http://bit.ly/a8mzh4 and enjoy.

In unrelated Shiner’s Saloon News, I stopped by the Austin Chamber of Commerce yesterday and wow, if you are new to Austin and need some help getting your bearings with the city, definitely stop by. I had never been and it is such a great recourse for just getting more information on the city, so check it out! They are located at 210 Barton Springs Road, just South of the river.

Location:
422 Congress Ave
Suite D – 2nd Floor
Austin, Texas 78701
