47. Evangeline Cafe

February 16, 2010

Happy Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras. . .After some confusion this morning – I am going with what I originally was going to post about Evangeline Café. Having never been I hesitated but none the less I have heard nothing but raving reviews about this place, my roommate and her boyfriend are huge supporters and regulars.

My boss just gave me a run down as well, she said that if you want to celebrate Mardi Gras in true New Orleans fashion, Evangeline Cafe is the place. The music combined with their to die for Gumbo makes for an excellent combination. Better get there early if you want a place to sit because by late evening the crowd will be spilling over into the parking lot and you’ll find yourself with standing room only. Despite the standing room only isn’t good food, good music, good company what Mardi Gras is all about?

They offer a variety of Cajun style food combined with great live music. A little taste of Bourbon Street in Austin. The owner is a Louisiana native with over 30 years in the food industry so he knows a thing or two about making a mean crawfish.

Tonight’s Line Up includes:
6:00 pm- Matt & Funky Gras
8:00 pm -Charles Thibodeaux and the Austin Cajun Aces
10:00 pm- Ponty Bone

Location:
8106 Brodie Lane
Austin TX 78745
