46. Visit the Lyndon B. Johnson Library & Museum

February 15, 2010

In honor of President’s Day how about a visit to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum on the University of Texas Campus. The library is the only Presidential Library not to charge admission and has the highest visitation of any presidential library. Free admission and free parking, another plus to honoring a former President.

The top floor of the library has a 7/8ths scale replica of the Oval Office as it was decorated during Johnson’s presidency – one of the coolest parts if you ask me.

They have several exhibits: American 1908-1973, Model T (another personal favorite of mine) it is a mind condition 1910 Model T Ford that was given to President Johnson by Henry Ford II, Presidential Limousine, First Lady’s Gallery, and more.

A stop by the museum is all and all a great way to spend an afternoon and to gather a bit of American little history and culture. A good way to remember our roots..

Hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

University of Texas Campus
2313 Red River Street
Austin, Texas 78705

Random Fact: President Johnson actually graduated from Texas State University (formally Southwest Texas State). He actually is the only President to graduate from college in Texas. Texas State too has a LBJ Museum.

May God Bless America and Austin, Texas.
