21. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

February 4, 2010

I admit that it is a far cry from Wildflower season but for those of you who have not had the opportunity the see it would be a great time to take advantage of the free admission in January.

Former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson and actress Helen Hayes founded the organization in 1982 in an effort to protect and preserve North America’s native plans and natural landscapes. The Center was first know as the National Wildflower Research Center and is now known as the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. In 2006, it became an Organized Research Unity of the University of Texas at Austin.

The Center is located in South Austin at:
4801 La Crosse Ave.
Austin, Texas 78739

Life’s too short, don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers!
